Indianapolis PR Firm Awarded “Best of Show” by Public Relations Society of America
Award Recognizes Kyle Communications for work with the Indiana Debate Commission

INDIANAPOLIS--Kyle Communications received a top award from the Public Relations Society of America Wednesday for “Best of Show.”

The annual competition draws entries from the largest corporations, PR and advertising agencies in central Indiana. The work was judged by out-of-state public relations professionals who scored all entries on a point scale for research, planning, execution and results.

The firm’s work was recognized for public and media outreach on behalf of the Indiana Debate Commission—a non-profit group of citizens and media that coordinated three gubernatorial debates for candidates last fall.

Kyle Communications, a PR firm that started in 2005, spearheaded the launch of the commission in 2007—including recruiting pro bono and in-kind donations, coordinating venues and connecting with the media.

The debate commission operated successfully in its first year with donated costs of $162,258, reaching nearly 3,000 people who attended the debates, receiving 421 questions from voters online, hitting a commercial TV audience of 144,950 viewers for the final debate, and credentialing 224 journalists for the debates in Merrillville, Jasper and Bloomington.

The Indiana Debate Commission also achieved non-profit status in March and is now recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)3 organization.

In addition to the “Best of Show” for commission work, Kyle Communications also earned a second Pinnacle Award for External Communications from the Hoosier Chapter PRSA.

The firm is owned by Kyle Elyse Niederpruem, a former editor for Gannett and The Indianapolis Star. During her journalism and PR careers, she has earned nearly 30 awards from peer groups in both journalism and public relations.
